Trip to Niigata:
After a gruelling 5 hour drive from Kanagawa-Ken, my family and I reached the small ski resort town
of Yuzawa (40 minutes from Ojiya). Travelling off season proved to be very difficult. Do to the extremely busy
time of year for the koi breeders, I was not able to set up a appointment with any of the koi breeders in Ojiya.
Apparently, all were working very hard to ready their stocks for the mud ponds and also the young koi show that was scheduled
for that weekend. And because we were not going to purchase any koi on our first visit, I could understand their
reluctance to open their doors to us strangers. We still were able to make the best of our short trip out to Niigata.

Trip to Fukui:
Happy Thanksgiving! This weekend trip was something to be thankful for. I finally was
able to see and experience a real life Japanese Koi Farm. The experience was everything I dreamed of. A lot of
ponds, lots of koi, lots of moving water, lots of koi, lots of bubbles, did I say lots of koi? I was a kid in a
candy store. I really made note of the pond set ups and how they manage the koi in and around the 20+ (Indoor and Ourdoor
ponds).
