Here are some prospects that caught my eye...
I try very hard to select first on body
conformation and strength in body. I then look at the quality of the koi and then determine if I can live with the existing
and potential pattern make up of the fish. If Showa or Sanke koi, I will always make a mock up of what I think the finished
pattern will be on the fish when it gets older/larger.

Everyone Loves Fishing...
Living in Hawaii makes it very hard for enthusiast to acquire good koi for their pond(s).
Pickings are very slim when looking locally for that special champion koi. But like most serious koi kichi, serious keepers
travel to Japan to find their champions. The only place the "not so serious" hobbiest have in Hawaii is Mr. Kodama and his
online establishment located right here in Hawaii. Although very limited and not the best way to find and purchase koi, they
do help the uneducated and unassuming masses drawn to the beauty of koi.
